The Curse of Tutankhamun - Documentary GREEK subs

Tutankhamun GREEK subs

His grave was discovered on November 4, 1922 but his sarcophagus was opened on February 16, 1923.

This particular discovery was great and renewed interest in Ancient Egypt. At the time it was discovered, it was the major topic of the day. Too many newspapers took up the issue. However, it also worked negatively, as the reputation of the so-called "curse of Tutankhamun" was strengthened.

In his grave, two newborn girls were also found together - one died in childbirth and the other during pregnancy. Tutankhamun was childless and his death was so sudden that his pyramid was not ready for burial. So they buried him, in a small humble grave, intended for a person of lower rank. Until Carter discovered him, Tutankhamun was unknown to historians and archaeologists.

He was born in 1341 BC and was the son of Pharaoh Akhenaten - an important figure in the history of Egypt. He was the one who tried to convert the polytheistic religion of the Egyptians into a monotheistic one. Akhenaten worshiped the Sun God, Aten. The name of his son, Tutankhamun, was inspired from there. When he was born, he was Tutaghaten, which means "the living image of Aten".

The Egyptians refused to follow the faith of the "heretical" Pharaoh Akhenaten and expelled him from the throne in 1332 BC, after 17 years of reign. It is then that his 9-year-old son, Tutankhamen, ascends the throne. Immediately, he changes his name to Tutankhamun to avoid being associated with his father's failed sect. He marries his half-sister - Princess Ankesenamun, daughter of Nefertiti - and with her he had two girls who were buried with him.
